I am devoted to learning more about ecology and making a positive impact on my environment.

My efforts

Erase E-Waste (2022)

I organized community e-waste collection events at local businesses, creating publicity flyers and partnering with TechWaste Recycling Inc. to collect old electronics for free recycling. This allowed me to help the environment by providing a convenient way for community members to responsibly dispose of e-waste.

OA ECO (2022-2024)

This school year, as recycling director, I oversee our school’s recycling project, collecting recycling weekly from classrooms and educating about reducing waste. For our Harvesting Hope garden project, I cared for our ECO garden, gaining experience with sustainability initiatives. This allowed me to make an environmental impact at school.

2023 San Bernardino Forestry Challenge

Our school’s team won second place out of 18 teams. The challenge consisted of a field test which tested our knowledge of general forestry topics and our ability to perform field tests accurately. I worked with my team of five to learn forestry concepts like measuring trees at diameter breast height (DBH), determining basal area using an angle gauge, identifying trees, and more. For the second part which was a presentation, our group collected field data, conducted outside research, and used this information to assess the effectiveness of Cal Fire’s fuel reduction plan on a region.  We were the highest-scoring team for this presentation.
